Marketing Pitch for the City of Lowell's Hamilton Canal District Development Project
Developed and written as part of a consulting experience.
This proposal is intended to highlight a potential plan for utilizing the new Hamilton Canal District (HCD) site in Lowell, Massachusetts. While there is currently an ‘active’ plan for the HCD, outlined and explained in the Hamilton Canal District Master Plan published in September 2008, this proposal seeks to illustrate an alternative method for developing and marketing a pedestrian-prioritized community in the HCD.
Public Relations and the Field of Journalism:
A Mutually Beneficial Relationship
A piece based on an interview with The Boston Globe's extremely talented Feature Columnist, Billy Baker.
As defined by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), “Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics.” One of the best ways to build rapport with the public is through the medium of journalism. Journalism provides a number of channels through which a public relations professional can interact with stakeholders on behalf of their organization. For this reason, it is essential that public relations professionals strive to extend the greatest of respects to journalists they seek out or encounter unexpectedly in order to build strong and lasting relationships.
Materiality Assessment for Whole Foods Market in 2014
An assignment for Corporate Communications at BU's School of Communication taught by talented Director of Public Relations at Panera, Jonathan Yohannan.
Whole Foods Market has a diverse range of stakeholders. Each stakeholder group has its own agenda, and thus its own desires when it comes to evolving and improving the retail experience at Whole Foods. As our company’s Core Values suggest, each external stakeholder’s views are equally important and crucial to Whole Foods success in advancing our mission to set the standard of excellence for food retailers. To be realistic, current issues relevant to stakeholders have been assessed and prioritized in a materiality gird in order to depict which issues are of material importance to company growth in 2014.
A War You Don’t Realize You’re Fighting

Thud. Thud. Thud.
Clang. Clang. Clang.
Constant and rhythmic noises resound and set a pace for everyone to follow. These are the sounds of humans at war. There are no swords or shields present on this battlefield, however, only exercise equipment and barbells--because the enemy must be fought from within.
Having Felt Death
(A Memoir)
A memoir assignment. Written to explore different thoughts I was having about getting older, family, and how we share our stories with one another.
Death has always been a common topic in my family. My life has been filled with mentions of notices derived from the obituaries. My grandmother frequently calls our home, leaving messages for my father, Jimmy, about friends and acquaintances spotted in the paper. Having heard numerous conversations between my parents, I know they too are guilty of treating death like a topic of conversation. But the subject is rarely broached around me. And my grandmother doesn’t check the paper for people my age, whom I may know. My assumption is that they believe I have not felt death, and thus do not have an understanding of it. If they understood my feelings about my grandfather’s death, however, they would find they were mistaken.
